Candied Yams - Oh my!


Serve these yams with your turkey, or even better, have them for dessert too! This will be a favourite dish on the table this year. Expect to hear many 'oh my's'.

Ingredients
  • 4 medium yams, chopped large
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. Alpha Coconut Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. sea salt

    Topping
  • 1 cup pecans, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Alpha Coconut Sugar
  • 1/2 almond flour
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

  • Green onions, chopped (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Place yams in a large pot of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes until soft.
  3. Drain water from pot.
  4. Add all ingredients to the pot (except toppings). Mix together until yams have a smooth consistency.
  5. Spread evenly in a baking dish. 
  6. In a small bowl, combine all your topping ingredients together to create a crumble.
  7. Evenly coat your yams with pecan crumble.
  8. Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Top with green onions and serve.
